KOBA, ABU collaborate on Green Broadcasting Award
24 May 2012: KOBA(22nd Korea International Broadcast, Audio and Lighting Show) in Seoul, Korea Republic and the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union have joined forces to promote and develop green broadcasting practices in the industry by recognising the best contributions through an ABU Green Broadcast Engineering Award.
Under an agreement signed recently, KOBA – one of the leading broadcast equipment shows in the region - will sponsor the “ABU Green Broadcast Engineering Award”, through a cash prize.
The Award, which is in its inaugural year, is conferred on those who have made engineering contributions of an outstanding nature in developing, implementing and / or promoting green technology in the broadcasting industry in the Asia-Pacific region. This award shall be open to distinguished personalities and organisations in all segments of the broadcasting industry, including the staff or former staff of ABU members and ABU affiliate members within the ABU region.
The award comprises a commemorative trophy, a citation and a cash prize. The KOBA collaboration is set to enhance the value of this distinguished award, helping to catalyse and further promote green broadcasting practices.

The Partnership of ABU and KOBA creates a synergy effect for enhancing image and development of Aisa-pacific broadcasting industry,” said Mr Choong Jin Kim, President and CEO of Korea E & Ex Inc, the organizer of the KOBA show.
“With the partnership, we hope to leverage on the brand power of both KOBA and the ABU to make this a highly prestigious award within the Asia-Pacific region,” said ABU Secretary-General, Dr Javad Mottaghi.
The recipient of this year’s Award will be presented with the award trophy by a KOBA in the opening ceremony of the ABU technical Committee meeting in Seoul on 13 October.
